What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a hands-on therapy developed in Japan through a synthesis of Eastern and Western medical concepts. We don't use any tools or equipment. We only use fingers and palm to apply comforting pressure and to understand your body's condition.
Shiatsu therapy is a treatment that will normalize the function of the body by pressing the surface of the body to prompt "Reflection"(reaction of the organism to stimuli occurring unconsciously).
The purpose of Shiatsu is to maximize the function of the natural healing power that comes with the human body. In our clinic, we focus on balancing your body using Shiatsu therapy.

What distinguishes Shiatsu from other manual therapies
is that it employs no rubbing or kneading techniques, but instead uses the fingers and palms to apply sustained, vertical pressure to acupoints throughout the body, penetrating gently but deeply to flush out accumulated toxins, promote the flow of blood and lymph, and restore optimal functioning to the internal organs, autonomic nervous system, and endocrine system. By limbering the muscles and freeing up the body's myofascial matrix, Shiatsu also facilitates increased range of motion and allows the skeletal system to rediscover its natural alignment.
Origins
Manual therapy is perhaps the oldest form of medicine. Since ancient times, whenever our bodies felt aches and pains, our hands went instinctively to the spot, which we rubbed, stroked, or squeezed to alleviate our discomfort. What thus began as an intuitive response developed over time into a variety of systematized manual therapies including Western massage and Chinese tuina. Japan too has evolved its own distinctive form of manual therapy, which is called Shiatsu.
A number of styles of manual therapy existed in pre-modern Japan, collectively referred to as Anma, which were based primarily on techniques and concepts handed down from traditional Chinese medicine. It is Tokujiro Namikoshi who is credited with adapting these traditional approaches and combining them with Western medical concepts to create a new, distinctively Japanese modality that he named Shiatsu.
